Iv’e got to start by saying . . .I think I’m really starting to get dreamweaver and actually liking it. . .I really like how we learned I frames and how we view them on fire fox. But now I’m getting off topic. Our homework this week was really beneficial. I can honestly say I have never ever been to youtube in my life. I started to look up topics that intrest me and was amazed all the links acces to the world I found!

I then typed in graphic design portfolios. I really didn’t know what to expect.At first I thought it would just be links to someones web page, what it was not!. . .It was straming video of companys even student artwork, ideas,logos,and inspiration. The first portfolio I clicked on was Kristinas gallery. I learned if you are fixing to graduate and want to get a job or even just get recognized YOUTUBE is the way to go. . . .thats what this young lady did. She put all of her finest work and made sure everyone on the web had easy acces to view. . . THATS AN EXCELLENT IDEA. . .I didnt just learn something new; Ilearned something that will hopefully further my carrer by doing this myself!

The next graphic portfolio was the samething . . .He was a student and he was just sharing his creative concepts maybe for an assignment or maybe for fun. This portfolio was not as well put together as KRISTINAS GALLERY. What I mean it it look like when he put his images on the internet he did it maybe the wrong way. It looked like the compression and the resolution was off or he saved it in a wrong format.. . . Therfor u can have the best portfolio in class or even on the web; but if people cant view it properly “I frames” it wont do u justice. . . thats why it is so important in taking these homework exercises sieriously because the very fundamental things we are learning in school right now will later be used IN LIFE.

well hello again you guys. . .It looks like we made it half way through the quarter. . .have ya’ll been keeping up with bloging? I actually like it now! After reading through the assignment my first thought was ; is their even such thing as online magazines.. . .And esppecially fo graphic designers.. . we’ll I did my research and their is a magazine for every intrest. Whether it be fo football, cosmetics, or politics it is out there. So I typed in graphic design “zines” and alot of sites poped up. . .some online and some not. I scrooled down and clicked on ECLIPSE EZINE. This is an online magazine dedicated to graphi designers. It can provide you with tips on storyboarding, news on praticular intrets that you have but most importantly give you ideas. This includes well known refrences and lots and lots of inspiration!

My next site I saw was a well page layout site called GRAPHICS.com. This praticular page has the same as ezine but is a bit more animated and flasher. It does have well scripted layouts and sidbar which gave me lots of ideas for our final project. . . .because layout is the key in all programs espically dreamweaver!

MY las graphic design site was .NET MAG. . This was prob my leasr favorite. It has the least amount of graphics and information and is not that appealing. . . .TILL NEXT TIME!!!!!

We all need resources to depend on if we are stuck on a project. I think when we graduate from this school the first thing we will be doing is design layouts. Thats why my first url link is to a page layout website. . .It is freelayouts.com.

This aspect of a graphic designer is key to success. Page layout is neccesary in all projects in the graphic arts industry. This website can help get the basis of an idea without coping it to create the foundation of a new project! Without a proper margins, collums., height and width it can make or break any project that you have made or will make in the future.

Another thing that is vital to a canvas is type heirarchy and typefaces. In order to make a succesfull information graphic, newsletter, or webpage you have to arrange diffrent typefaces, the size of the font and even the color. If you have alot of choices in style and font familys it can be very beneficial! That is why my second resourse is a type page. The url for this website is larabiefonts.com. This may just be an assignment for school; but now I know where to get fonts and page layouts for the future. . .so therefor I think I achomplished the goal!

graphic designer web sites and why they are important

Well I’ll start off by saying to be any great artist you have to have refrences and most importantly an inspiration! Thats what I think is what we should get out of this exercise. Even if your not an artist we all need someone or someplace to get ideas from. I never thought to get inspiration or ideas from a website , but it makes alot of since now researching graphic designers. I ussually get my ideas from everday life: rather driving down the highway looking at billboards or thinking to myself while im at the gym but the bottom line is we all need to have ideas and we all need to apply them to are caerer. After googling some graphic designers I found a greater appreciation for the web 2.0 and how to get there. I think more often than less I will use this tool in the future. Wether it for any homework assignement, pleasure or even down the line where I’m working for a corporation. . .Also I think that making us blog in be in touch with the web is brilliant. I neve was relly in to emails ang myspace and all that but now i’m really getting the hang of it. If it wasn’t for this praticular teacher and this class I would still be in the dark about all the new advances in computers that i have learned.

Well hello again! I picked certain graphic designers based on their use of the elements of design. Each artist I am going to post a link for uses their particular style very well. I really liked this assignment because we all got to see whats out there and are being introduced to many diff rent styles and ways to achieve the same goal.

My first artist I really love was franseco Mugnai. The only way to say this is the color palette he uses is amazing. I think he ac hived this by put each its compliment side by side and also using simultaneously color method like red and green vibrating ur eye. He uses this throughout the whole canvas which is rally cool . . . and thats an understatement! His link is blogoffrancescomugnai.com

My second favorite artist is David Mascna. He uses eometric shapes and pins them against irregular desins to make up his composition. I think he ac hived this very well. In my opinion cant have a sucessful art piece without the proper use of line, shape and color. . .His link is davidmascna.com

My third artist is alberto love. . .his use of imagery and color is amazing. He really captures the essence of life in this piece. It makes you wonder what what his objective was and if he achieved it. His link islovegodgift.com

My fourth artist is David Friedman. Im really fond of this artist because he uses alphabet letters to create his art. I am taking a type hierarchy class this quarter and are last homework assignment was to do this exact method of applying shape color and line by using letters. I thought it was really fun and will probably strengthen ur art skills my doing this every in then. His link isironicsans.com/

My last graphis designer is wieden and Kennedy. They also use color and shape very well but what I was amazed by was the way your eyes move across the paper. He uses diiferent color arrows that juxtapose to move your eye to it focal point. I think eyeflow is hardest and most important parts of the elements of design! his link is wklondon.com

What is web 2.0? Honestly I dont know but taking this class I’m sure I will know. I am learning alot abot time managment and how to be effective with the time I have due to a really tough quarter. Im taking some tough classes and learning all new programs in adobe that I never knew before. In the long run I am sure this will help my portfolio and later on in landing a really nice job
